25 Good Behaviors Every Child Should Know

Amal teaches 25 essential behaviors that help children develop proper social skills and good manners from ages 3-5.

Child Development

Sometimes our children may cause certain situations that go against general behaviors and make them the subject of anger from those around them. In fact, most of these situations can be avoided by teaching our children the principles of good behavior from a young age, especially at the age of 3-5 years, which is the period when the child's awareness begins to form and grow.

Children are small people who hate being told what to do, just like adults, but at the same time they watch adults and constantly imitate them. Therefore, they can be taught the following behaviors by repeating them in front of them. Here are the best 25 behaviors that may be obvious to us as adults, but will teach children to behave properly with their peers and earn the respect of adults.

Use the word "please" when asking for something from another person, even if they're a child.

Use the word "thank you" when taking something from another person, even if they're a child.

Don't interrupt adults' conversations except in emergencies. Adults will pay attention to you and meet your needs when they finish talking.

Use words like "excuse me" or "please" when you want to get someone's attention.

Ask permission when you want to do any activity you're unsure about.

Don't comment on anyone's appearance in an insulting or hurtful way, especially their physical defects.

When someone asks about your condition, answer their question, then ask them in turn: How are you?

When you visit a friend, and before you leave, thank their parents for their hospitality.

Always knock on the door and wait until you're allowed to enter.

Introduce yourself first when talking on the phone, then ask to speak with whom you want.

Always say "thank you" when receiving a gift, and show your appreciation to the giver.

Don't use bad expressions and words in your conversation with adults or others.

Don't call people by insulting nicknames.

Don't make fun of another person, whatever the reason.

Sit quietly and listen to others when they speak, even if the topic is boring.

If you accidentally bump into someone while walking or playing, apologize to them immediately.

Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing.

Don't close the door in someone else's face.

Help everyone who needs it, especially those weaker than you.

Do the tasks required of you without complaining; this will help you feel responsible and accomplished.

Thank those who help you; your kindness to them may make them help you again.

Learn to use table utensils properly and ask your parents for help.

Use tissues, not your clothes, to wipe your mouth and nose properly.

If the food dish is far from you, ask an adult to bring it closer to you.

There is no specific age to start teaching a child how to behave in society. You as a mother or father can start when you feel the child is ready to learn. Training and education by example is the ideal method. Don't teach your children manners you don't follow yourself, because the child will learn bad behavior from you first.
